"Everyone's Secrets" (みんなのヒミツ Min'na no himitsu?) is the one hundred thirteenth chapter of the Seraph of the End: Vampire Reign manga series, written by Takaya Kagami and illustrated by Yamato Yamamoto.
Synopsis[]
Several millennia ago, Yu was with Mikaela before Sika Madu joined them. Where they were discussing bringing Mikaela back to life, Sika Madu mentioned the sacrifices involved. Sharing a secret, Yu mentions that sometimes Mikaela will talk to him.
Presently, Yu attempts to have Guren share details of his plan, who feels it will make more sense if he can show it once they arrive. Kimizuki is sick of waiting, and Yoichi seeks details in his sister's death too. When Guren affirms he will bring their families back, Mika questions at what cost.
Discussing the catastrophe, Guren mentions seven coffins were already available. While the resurrection was purportedly going to occur anyway, Guren states he could have foiled it that day. Where Shinoa and Mahiru were caught up in Shikama Doji's plan, that they are here now is because of Guren's actions. Stating all the blame talk is meaningless, Yu feels they did what they have to do and it's fine since they are family.
As breaking a taboo, such as in resurrecting people, will result in the seraph of the end enacting retribution, Mika raises whether controlling the seraphs would allow them to resurrect people without a price. Guren answers there is a stupidly massive price, where resurrecting the dead is a curse.

Summary[]
In the past Yu and Sika Madu discussed Mikaela
Somewhere, several millennia ago, Yu as a child was in a large room with many clear fluid filled tanks with the coffin containing Mikaela. Happily speaking Mika's name, Yu said it was time to wake up. Joining him, Sika Madu spoke how Yu was in here again today. After Yu said he wanted to play with Mika as soon as he could, Sika Madu patted him on the shoulder before stating unfortunately enough, his child is currently dead.[1]
Ideas on awakening him
While Yu knows, he stated how he was going to wake him up. As Sika Madu considered it, Yu spoke how it would be just like in those fairy tales Sika Madu tells him, the prince rescuing the princess. Where Yu guesses that makes him the prince, Sika Madu felt that was a lovely idea, though neither Mikaela nor him have a gender like humans. After Sika Madu mentioned he cannot say whether or not Mikaela can become a proper "princess", Yu was intrigued by this.[2]
Detailing stories across the ages
Wondering if Sika Madu thought that he can fix Mikaela with a kiss, Yu raises was there not a story like that. After Sika Madu replied he believed there was, Yu enquired what was it again, before listing a poison apple, or a poison spindle as possibilities. Having forgotten, Yu details the princess' reaction, but then the prince comes along and gives her a kiss to bring her back to life. With it something like that, Sika Madu remarks how no matter the era or the kingdom, they all have a story that plays out in much the same way, which he comments is funny. When Yu is keen to try kissing Mika, if he could bring him back with a kiss, Sika Madu would love nothing more. Sika Madu is afraid it will not work, which Yu was also disappointed by.[3]
Sacrifices over thousands of years to bring him back
Determining it would take a bit more time, Sika Madu commented that he has already devoted tens of thousands of years to this, but he has not yet created quite enough sacrifices to bring him back. When Yu enquired what a sacrifice was, Sika Madu smiled at him before answering that is a hard word. Deciding to explain it later, Sika Madu added in fact perhaps he will tell Yu how it works through a fairy tale. Asking really, Yu could not wait.[4]
Addressing how Yu stays with Mikaela
Thanking Yu for always being with Mikaela, while he appeared happy, Sika Madu asked did he not get bored staying in here alone. When Yu replied he didn't, Sika Madu supposed that was good. Parting with the words for Yu to keep Mikaela company for him then, Sika Madu mentioned he was going to go and increase humanity's numbers a bit more. After Yu called for him to wait up, Sika Madu heard how he has a secret to tell. Registering Yu actually has secrets, Sika Madu found it surprising. Raising how Mika is dead so he cannot talk, Yu outlined that is why they have to bring him back to life. Continuing, Yu says but sometimes, Mika will still talk to him. Placing himself against the coffin to illustrate how if he puts his ear to it close, Yu explained he makes sure to not miss whatever he says next. Repeating that he is not bored, Yu is waiting to hear from him again.[5]
Although deceased, Yu claims Mikaela speaks to him
After Sika Madu remarked that is one big fib, Yu claimed it is true. Raising that Mikaela talks to him when he has not spoken to his parent in eons, Sika Madu stated if that is true it is horribly cruel. After a pause, Sika Madu spoke whether it is true or not, that it was obvious Yu truly cared about Mikaela. Agreeing, Yu said he was super nice. Also caring about him too, Sika Madu offered his hand while asking Yu for them to bring him back to life, the both of them together. Taking his hand, Yu promised.[6]
Wondering where they are being taken
By the present day, Ferid is humming while driving with Crowley in the seat beside him. Mitsuba sits beside Yoichi as they listen to Yu shout what the heck. Wanting to know what is wrong with him, Yu does an impression of Guren getting this super serious look on his face. As Mika witnesses this, Yu continues to speak that Guren was all like he would tell them the truth, but now he is not saying one dang thing. Laughing in response to the frustrated display, Ferid states that having lots of friends makes every day a boisterous one.[7]
Guren not inclined to answer right now
Weary, Guren said he would tell him everything when they got to where they were going. After Yu counters that Guren said he would tell them right now, the response is it's a long and complicated story, so they should wait until they get there. Having kept telling him, Guren continues that it will make more sense if he can show him something while he explains. Against that, Yu insists Guren specifically said he would tell them, so he should already. Turning to the others, Yu questions if they do not agree with him.[8]
The squad would also like to know their destination
Agreeing that Yu has a point, Yoichi says Guren did say so. If it is a long story, Kimizuki states why not start telling it now, they have already waited plenty long enough. While Guren is silent, Kimizuki places his hand on Mirai who is lying nearby. Even though his sister was killed, Kimizuki has kept his mouth shut. Reiterating how he was waiting, with an increasing sense of anger, which Yoichi picks up on, Kimizuki shouts now he is sick of waiting.[9]
Kimizuki angered at the lack of answers
On his feet, Kimizuki yells they sat down and kept their traps shut this whole damn time. As Yoichi attempts to hold him back, Kimizuki adds they done this even though they don't know squat. While Mika observes, so does Mitsuba, with Shinoa and Krul also listening. Despite everything Guren put them through, Kimizuki states they still agreed to listen to him. After Kimizuki questions is he really still going to take that attitude with them, Yu supports the idea, then asks what is with Guren's attitude.[10]
Yoichi has a question
Eager to mention something, Yoichi raises if they can speak up then he has got something he wants to say too. After Yu orders him to go ahead, Yoichi addresses the Lt. Colonel how he said something about maybe killing his sister. Questioning if he remembers, Yoichi would like a proper explanation for that, and requests it sooner rather than later.[11]
Requiring details at once
With that, Yu states for Guren to see they have all had enough of waiting. Telling him to quit stalling and explain it already, Yu says he has one sentence. When Guren answers no, one sentence is impossible, Yu demands he hurry up and explain already, now, in one second, then one word. Relenting, Guren speaks of one sentence they all want to hear. Pointing at Kimizuki and Yoichi specifically, Guren announces he will bring their families back to life, so they should sit down and shut up. While Yoichi and Kimizuki contemplate it, Yu appears elated at the news.[12]
Hearing the dead can be brought back to life
Asking what the price is, Mika addresses how bringing the dead back to life has a cost. When Guren brought his friends back, he caused the catastrophe. Mika continues that the state of the whole world right now can be laid at Guren's feet. Disregarding everything said, Guren responds that he will bring Akane back, and the rest of his orphan family too. As Yu reacts enthusiastically to the intent, Mika speaks his name.[13]
Mika addresses the cost of resurrection
After Yu places his hand on Mika, he speaks to Guren how he said it before, how his ultimate goal was to bring back everybody killed by the catastrophe. With Guren agreeing, Yu continues it is why he is going to bring them all back, from Kimizuki and Yoichi's sister, to his family, everyone. Then acknowledging how bringing people back from the dead is not free, Yu also adds Guren brought back only a handful of people, and what happened to the world.[14]
Shinoa raises the divine punishment that arose
Standing, Shinoa answers that everybody over the age of fourteen died. As Mahiru observes, both Ferid and Crowley are also listening. Summarizing, Shinoa details how using a spell that is considered taboo will result in divine punishment being rendered. In this particular case, the "taboo" was the Lt. Colonel reviving a handful of people.[15]
Seven coffins were already there for the first resurrection
Remembering how Guren was carrying Shinya who was deceased where he was placed into a coffin, it is mentioned the spell was a success and his friends came back, but the divine punishment came as well. When Shinoa asks how many did Guren revive, he answers seven. After revealing there were seven coffins already there, Shinoa considers this. A sword stabbed into the ground is envisioned, and with seven coffins already prepared, Shinoa feels in others words, the Demon Army's predecessors, the Emperor's Demons Cult planned to carry out precisely that experiment in the first place, which Guren replies exactly, to.[16]
If not Guren then someone else may have activated the resurrection
From what was being prepared, Shinoa states even if Guren had not have triggered the catastrophe, the Demon Army would have eventually done the same thing. Answering no, Guren claims he could have foiled their plans that day. All he had to do was give up on Shinya and the others. Destroy the coffins, let them stay dead, that is all Guren says he had to do. Even if he stopped them, Shinoa asserts it would have only been temporary. The Demon Army would have recovered and set the same experiment back up. Affirming no once again, Guren announces he did it, that is the truth and there is no changing it. If he let himself die along with Shinya, Mahiru, and the others that night, Guren states he would not be here right now.[17]
Suspecting who is behind the plots at hand
Shouting that Guren does not know that, Shinoa affirms it is highly likely that the Demon Army was founded by Shikama Doji. Knowing that he founded the Hiragi family, Shinoa states that means everything up until now has been part of his plan. As Mitsuba and Yoichi react to this, Shinoa speaks how she and her sister were born solely to be guinea pigs in the experiment to create cursed gear.[18]
Considering what is a part of the First's plan
A scenario displaying a shadow extending from Shinoa's feet as she speaks how that was still part of Shikama Doji's plan is seen, and she continues to say all of this is his plan. Ever since she was a little girl, Shinoa desperately kept her heart sealed tight so that he would not have any chance to possess her. Yelling that Mahiru had it even worse, Shinoa attests that she sacrificed her whole life to protect her. While Mahiru reacts to her words, Shinoa continues to detail that the Hiragi family was a huge and powerful organization. Stuck firmly underneath it, Shinoa feels both Guren and her sister should not have been able to do anything.[19]
Claiming it was his own responsibility
As Mahiru regards him, Guren denies Shinoa's conviction and states it is the path he chose for himself, it is not what Shikama Doji planned. While Shinoa considers ways to not accept this, Guren shouts she is wrong. With Shinoa and Yu noting his reaction, Guren speaks how this whole time he has had the right to die. Where he could have chosen to give up and lie down, Guren mentions Shinya even told him to do it. He said if they just quit fighting and died, they won.[20]
Guren mentions he could have gave up
With Shinya envisioned deceased, Guren speaks how Mahiru said she did not want him to be collateral damage in her curse. Where Mahiru wished Guren had not come to rescue her, he did anyway, and the final decision was his. With the choices of to give up and lie down, or to keep fighting, keep struggling, even if it means hurting others, from the decision, Guren says the result was humanity being wiped out.[21]
Rallying others to support Guren
Although Shinoa does not feel it was Guren's fault, he answers that does matter. Replying it does, Shinoa asks what about the others. On whether they think the catastrophe was the Lt. Colonel's fault, Kimizuki and Mitsuba process the question. Believing this to be a very important distinction, Shinoa explains how Shikama Doji has been plotting these events for untold millennia. Shinoa continues that she and Mahiru were caught up in those plans since birth, with absolutely nothing they could do but despair, until Guren came along to try and rescue them.[22]
Feeling Guren was helping them
Where Mika and Mahiru listen to her words, Shinoa mentions the fact that she is here, that she can smile, and joke around, is because of what the Lt. Colonel did. If what he did to rescue herself and Mahiru was bad, and because of it the world was destroyed, where everyone's families were killed, then Shinoa feels she carries part of the blame for it too. With tears down her face, Shinoa says for so long she did nothing about it because her memories were gone. Both Guren and Mahiru sheltered her from them, going away to suffer all by themselves.[23]
Feeling guilt for others' dying
While Yu is silent, Shinoa cries she survived only because everyone else's families died. As Shinoa feels she was going about her life in total ignorance, laughing, Yu shouts her name to question what is she saying and is she stupid. Taking her hand, Yu says Guren as well while he joins them. Affirming that all that blame talk is meaningless, Yu clarifies the "it's all my fault" is dumb, and what the heck are they even doing.[24]
Whatever they do is fine on account they are family
Speaking to all, Yu announces if they tried their hardest to live, then they just did what they had to do and that is fine because they are family. Shouting whether that is not right, Yu says for them to tell him. The first to agree is Yoichi, who joins his hand in the circle, then Kimizuki and Mitsuba also agree that Yu is right.[25]
Trying to bring Mika into the hand circle
After Yu calls for his input, Mika questions whether he wants him to do it too. When Mika mentions did they not just get done with this whole team circle thingy, Yu responds they will do it as many times as it takes, before encouraging him to comply. Yu then attempts to involve Krul. After snapping she is not part of his sappy family, Krul adds for him to show respect when saying her name.[26]
Krul is not forthcoming for the union
Where Yu is aghast at Krul's rejection, Mahiru chuckles before joining her hand in the circle. With Shinoa, along with Kimizuki, and Mika steady, Yu declares they are family. Speaking for them to forget the past, Yu asserts the future is more important. If this was all some mega-plot by Shikama Doji then so what, Yu asks what do they care. All of them are going to fight for their family, and do whatever it takes, for as long as it takes.[27]
Returning to the matter of divine retribution
Saying for them to get back on topic, three seraphs with trumpets are envisioned as Mika details how if a taboo is broken there will be divine retribution. The seraph of the end is a weapon that controls and directs that retribution. If they find some way to control the seraphs, Mika speculates that should mean it is possible to break taboo and resurrect people, all without a price. Mika enquires whether that it correct.[28]
The price of resurrection
Replying no, that it is not nearly so convenient, Guren divulges there is a stupidly massive price. Speaking to Kimizuki, then Yoichi, also Yu and Mikaela, raising how they want to bring their families back, Guren reveals resurrecting the dead is a curse. If they want to keep fighting, then they will wind up cursed too, like him. Fine with that, Yu affirms if it what they have to do for their family, then they will do it. Seeking to learn what the price is, there is a request for Guren to tell them.[29]

Where most chapter covers are a feature image displaying a character and scenario that is related to the chapter story or not, chapter 113's cover is a rare case of heading right into story events. The logo, title, and production details are across the first page of the story, which begins with a darkened heading with text indicating the unknown location of the setting, and the time of several millennia ago. Yu as a child in the past is seen resting on the coffin containing Mikaela's corpse. They are within a room containing clear fluid filled tanks, with at least nine visible on the right, and eight on the left. The floor is made up of very large tiles. Appearing happy, Yu is speaking Mika's name multiple times, and saying it is time to wake up. Where he is deceased, Mikaela lies still with his eyes closed, where his seraph like wings are visible. From the locale and later events, it is Sika Madu's left lace-up sandal that is appearing, where he is raising how Yu is in here again today. More clear in the lower panels, due his height, Yu has jumped slightly in order to be able to see Mikaela within the coffin. On account it is a chapter cover that concerns story details, it is also a cover featuring in-universe text.
- Where previous past scenarios involving Yu and Sika Madu were specified to be in ancient Greece, in this chapter the location is only mentioned to be "somewhere'. In chapter 105, the coffin of Mikaela was seen in a room with pillars. While that could have been a visualization, also based on the unspecified location in this chapter, it is possible that Mikaela's corpse and coffin has been moved across locations.
- While in chapter 79 the fluid filled tanks were seen to contain at least one black sun, in another instance they also contained disembodied eyes such as the ones viewed in a memory in chapter 106, which were connected with the eye first seen in chapter 104. While the tanks contained experimental entities related to Yu in these cases, the tanks appear empty aside from air-like bubbles floating in fluid within this chapter.
- In chapter 85, Noya, along with Ashera and Krul, who were vampires by that point, noted it was a forbidden room where Mikaela was kept. By this chapter, Yu appears able to come and go freely where now Sika Madu is aware he visits the room, and is fine with it.
- Although Yu would like to play with Mika as soon as he can, Sika Madu speaks forthrightly how his child is dead.
- It is said how Sika Madu has been reading fairy tale based stories to Yu.
- For the stories, princes and princesses are involved, with a poison apple or poison spindle featured. Sika Madu comments no matter the era or the kingdom, they all have a story that plays out in much the same way. As of the twenty-first century, the eighteenth century "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves" would likely be the most widely known fairy tale involving a poisoned apple. The Brothers Grimm's Sleeping Beauty story (a version of the 1697 story) includes a spindle that induces a curse like effect.
- While Sika Madu says that Yu being the prince is a lovely idea, he states neither himself nor Mikaela have a gender like humans so he cannot say whether or not Mikaela can become a proper "princess."
- On resurrecting Mikaela, feeling it will take a bit more time, Sika Madu mentions he has already devoted tens of thousands of years to this. Having created sacrifices to bring him back, Sika Madu mentions he has not made quite enough.
- When Yu asks what a sacrifice is, Sika Madu answers he will explain later. He gets the idea to detail how it works through a fairy tale.
- Thanking Yu for being with Mikaela, even though he is alone, Sika Madu questions whether he gets bored.
- Taking his leave, Sika Madu claims he is going to go and increase humanity's numbers a bit more. As Yu being formed from a disembodied eye demonstrates, Sika Madu has found the means to generate life almost instantaneously.
- Hearing Yu has a secret, Sika Madu is surprised he would have any.
- Yu's secret is that even though Mikaela is dead, sometimes he will still talk to him. In chapter 85 it appeared to be the case that Mikaela's mouth had slightly opened from the time he was seen.
- Considering it, Sika Madu mentions Mikaela has not spoken to him in eons.
- Offering his hand, Sika Madu says for him and Yu to bring Mikaela back to life together.
- Although in the prior chapter 112, Guren said he would tell them the truth, he is waiting until they arrive at their destination as reportedly it is a long and complicated story, which will purportedly make more sense if something can be shown while he explains.
- After being murdered, Mirai's body was kept in a refrigerator in chapter 95. She is seen again here outside of it where bodily decay has not occurred, which is postulated to be on account of the experimentation she has endured.
- Where Yu is excited if anything for Guren to reveal details, after seeing his sister, Kimizuki reacts with anger at the lack of news despite all the time they have waited. Yoichi is also keen to hear details on his sister possibly being killed, where he would like an explanation soon.
- To also induce them to sit down, Guren points at Kimizuki and Yoichi while stating he will bring their families back to life.
- When Yoichi and Kimizuki accept the claim, and Yu appears happy that family members can be resurrected, Mika addresses what the price is.
- Bringing his friends back to life, Guren caused the catastrophe, with the resulting state of the world as well. Not addressing that at all, Guren replies to Mika that he will bring Akane back, who he knows by name, and the rest of his orphan family too.
- While Yu is keen on the idea of Guren bringing their family back, Mika responds as if he wants him to consider such claims. Although it is Yu who directs the conversation to what Guren said he wanted to do, Yu does also acknowledge and enquire about the cost for only bringing a few people back.
- Mentioning how everybody over the age of fourteen died, Shinoa summarizes the taboo that resulted in the catastrophe was because Guren resurrected a handful of people.
- A memory is shown of Guren carrying Shinya deceased and placing him in a coffin. While they are not named in the chapter, Guren's friends who were resurrected would have been his squad members: Sayuri Hanayori, along with Shigure Yukimi, then Mito Jūjō and Norito Goshi as well.
- There were seven coffins already prepared by the Emperor's Demons Cult, the precursor organization to the Demon Army.
- Where Shikama Doji is involved, there are seven beings closely aligned with him who could feasibly be candidates for resurrection. These are third progenitor vampires turned demons, Asuramaru, then Noya Hienma, Kiseki-o, Gekkouin, Raimeiki, and Byakkomaru. His son, Mikaela, is also planned to be restored to life.
- Dismissing the claim that the experiment would have been set up again even if it were undermined, Guren states he could have foiled the plans entirely.
- With it highly likely the Demon Army was founded by Shikama Doji, where they know he founded the Hiragi family, Shinoa feels everything up until now has been his plan.
- When Shinoa speaks how she and her sister were born solely for experimentation purposes in creating cursed gear, where that was a part of the First's plan, she is depicted in a lone environment with a large shadow emanating from her.
- Due to the Hiragi family's power, where Guren and Mahiru were stuck underneath it, Shinoa feels they should not have been able to do anything.
- Denying it is what Shikama Doji planned, Guren affirms it is the path he chose for himself.
- According to Guren, when he could have chosen to give up, Shinya told him to do it, where if they quit fighting and died it would mean they won.
- Mahiru is silent as Guren explains she did not want him to be collateral damage in her curse. Where Mahiru wished Guren would not have come to rescue her, he did anyway. The result of this continuation of fighting was for humanity to be wiped out.
- Since Guren helped herself and Mahiru, where everyone's families were killed, Shinoa tearfully feels she carries part of the blame too.
- Rejecting Shinoa's view that she is to blame, Yu also tells Guren such talk of blame is meaningless. Justification is given that whatever they did was done to survive, which is more fine when they are family.
- Pressed to agree, Yoichi readily does so, with Kimizuki and Mitsuba agreeing shortly after. Encouraged to join in, Mika joins the hand circle, despite raising had they not already done that. While Krul flatly rejects the idea they are family, Mahiru joins in.
- Not caring if this is all a plot by Shikama Doji, the future is more important in Yu's view and he vows all of them are going to fight for their family.
- In a visualization with them being referred to, the three cloak like seraphs last seen within Yu in chapter 109 are viewed.
- Should a taboo be broken, such as bringing the deceased back to life, there will be divine retribution. The seraph of the end is said to be a weapon that controls and directs that retribution.
- Contemplating it, Mika wonders if they find some way to control the seraphs, it might be possible to break taboo and resurrect people without a price.
