Humans (人間 Ningen?) in Seraph of the End the world over were held accountable for their own demise after a few experimented with the Seraph of the End beings. Whether to survive or acquire it for the sake of doing so, many humans are thirsty for power and thus organizations like the Japanese Imperial Demon Army were created.

History[]

Pre-apocalypse[]

Before the world collapsed, humans were the dominant race on the planet with their population being in the billions. Living among them, however, were various magical organizations all across the world, with two well known, powerful organizations in Japan: the Japanese Imperial Demon Army (JIDA), led by the powerful Hīragi Family; and their rival, the Brotherhood of a Thousand Nights, known for their inhumane experimentation, especially on children.

Apocalypse[]

In 2012, a man made virus brought about by the Seraph of the End, was released onto the world. It killed most humans over the age of thirteen and reduced the world's population by 90%. A few humans over thirteen survived the epidemic thanks to a vaccine that was developed using modified curse techniques.

Post-apocalypse[]

After the apocalypse, the human species was yet again threatened by strange monsters called the Four Horsemen of John who began killing off the remaining humans. This prompted Vampires to then appear from the earth's dark recesses to save as many humans as they could as human livestock out of concern for their drastically diminished food supply.

However, mankind would not give up so easily. In response to the above as well as the decline of the human population, the Moon Demon Company was formed under the Japanese Imperial Demon Army.

The fallen members of humanity are in mind when Yu and Mika are surveying the landscape from atop Tokyo Tower.[1] A distinct method of resurrection that can bring Mika, their orphanage family, and everyone else is the plan.[2]

Since the disappearance of Four Horsemen of John from the world, settlements for humans have been established where they are defended by Demon Army forces. Some of the biggest settlements in the Tokyo area are Ikebukuro, Shibuya, and Shinjuku. Civilian supplies are distributed from larger cities.

As a result of Shinoa's command, all the food supplies in all Ikebukuro settlements were ordered to be burned. A group which had young children present came under attack where they panicked at Yu threatening them for their supplies. One boy attempted to defend his sister, to little avail. The food supplies were burnt, along with others in the Ikebukuro vicinity leaving the people's future there in question.[3]

Organizations[]

Magic[]

Japanese Imperial Demon Army[]

A military group that deal with supernatural tasks in Japan. Its leaders are the prestigious Hīragi Family, who command many elite units, such as the Moon Demon Company. Made up of with smaller branch families like the Ichinose, Jūjō and Goshi clans serving them Lead After the Apocalypse, their goal is to rally together all human survivors, and snatch back supremacy from the vampires.

The JIDA hides many dark secrets such as human experimentation and is delving into forbidden arts and magic, i.e. the Seraph of the End.

Hyakuya Sect[]

Formerly the Brotherhood of a Thousand Nights, they were another prestigious magic organization in Japan that rivaled the Japanese Imperial Demon Army. The Thousand Nights and the JIDA fought for dominance over the country for many years which ended with the Thousand Nights prevailing thanks to the aid of the United States after World War II. One of their known projects were using people (usually children made orphans) in their experimentation in creating the Seraph of the End and later on, Cursed Gear.

Powers and Abilities[]

Weaknesses[]

  • Mortality: Humans shared weakness as non supernatural beings (e.g. age, blood loss, decapitation, disease, heart failure, suffocation, snapped neck, etc.).
  • Power-thirsty: Many humans are thirsty for power, and resulted in the creation of organizations like the Japanese Imperial Demon Army.
  • Greed: According to vampires, demons, and seraphs, humans have a very great amount of greed that led to using the Seraph of the End and caused the apocalypse in 2012.
