Summary[]

With curse like shadows partially across her face, Shinoa laughs wildly as she engages Shikama Doji in their sphere. Invoking darkness, Shikama Doji generates a circular tinted glass like power and speaks for it to put distance between them. In response, Shinoa has Gekkouin ready.[1]

Manifesting two large bows, Shinoa prepares the Falling Stars ability. While he sees it coming, Shikama Doji is unable to do anything about the bows from firing into both his arms. After Shikama Doji calls her a monster, Shinoa retorts that he was the one who made her this way.[2]

As Shinoa approaches him, Shikama Doji is on his knees and has little recourse but to think to Yu in his mind as a means of contacting him for intervention. Urging him to hurry, Shikama Doji wills Yu to come to him. Meanwhile, Shinoa thinks she will take a look through the First's memories. Reaching her hand towards him, Shinoa adds she will take a look at his entire plan. After that, Shinoa is clear with Shikama Doji that she will take all of his power, and make it hers. Shinoa places her hand atop the First's head.[3]

A memory of the past displays a scene of tranquil fields. Someone in it thought how they wanted to disappear, to die. They wished they were never born in this first place. Lying on his back amongst some scrolls, Ferid thought how he could not suppress these self-destructive urges. They keep running circles in his mind, driving him mad.[4]

A scenario from when Ferid Bathory was aged sixteen, in the field he sat up and mentioned how this was horrible. Ferid felt like he was tearing himself apart. Turning to who he was being spoken to, the speaker had noted there Ferid was and addressed how he had escaped out here again. Joining Ferid, he spoke how he was always reading whatever scrolls and books that he could.[5]

Ferid was happy to see who he addressed as elder brother, but then mentioned or should he be calling him "your Majesty" now. After Ferid claimed he could not remember how he should address him, his brother replied for Ferid to call him whatever he pleased. Delighted to do so, Ferid opted for elder brother as he wrapped his arms round his leg. Saying for him to let go, his brother sought a serious conversation with Ferid.[6]

Ever since their parents' deaths in that accident, Ferid's brother mentioned how their little kingdom has changed drastically. As Ferid looked up to him and listened, his brother explained to him that the fate of their people rested on their young shoulders. His brother informed Ferid that he needed to take up his share of responsibility.[7]

Taking to kneeling, Ferid was not keen on the idea of helping. Saying how his brother was so much more talented that he was, Ferid added he would stay out the way as an excuse. Against that, his brother said that Ferid was smarter than he was. Noting that Ferid had a lot of powerful support too, his brother continued that if he were not clearly helping him then the court might have split into two warring factions. Worst of all, his brother felt the whole kingdom could have collapsed.[8]

Responding that it wouldn't, Ferid pointed out that his brother was more popular than himself. In turn, his brother felt they were working together. Enthusiastic, his brother affirmed this was an era for the young, like them. With Ferid's support, his brother felt they could even do what their father couldn't, namely conquer the world.[9]

Although Ferid appeared excited at the idea, his brother assured him he meant it. Extending his hand to him, Ferid's brother began to say that Ferid could, before changing to that together they could make that dream come true. Contemplating it for a moment, Ferid spoke that he was not all that interested really, which his brother regarded.[10]

Hearing him out, he listened as Ferid cited wealth, power, and royalty where none of that interested him. It was not only that, Ferid explained maybe it was because he was going through puberty, but he did not see the point to living at all. Where Ferid's brother appeared unsure what to make of this, Ferid decided he guessed if his brother ordered him to then he would do it.[11]

Putting it down to Ferid just behaving normally, Ferid's brother smiled and commented how he had always been like this. Attempting to encourage him, Ferid's brother stated that it is that utter lack of ambition that lets him trust Ferid with his back. Requesting that his brother support him, he said for them to build a world of their own. Apparently considering the matter with a glazed smile, Ferid came to agree okay, and said for he and his brother to do it together as he took his hand.[12]

Once Ferid was on his feet, his brother asked by the way, what was he reading having noted the scrolls nearby. Turning to them, Ferid answered that it was a treatise on reincarnation. Where his brother was unfamiliar with the concept, he asked what reincarnation was. Retrieving the scroll, Ferid specified it was being born again after one dies. Further, Ferid provided background information such as why humans are here, where they go when they die, that sort of thing.[13]

Informed, Ferid's brother asked why bother with that, where Ferid shared that according to the treaty he was waving about it was all one big circle. They are born, then die and Ferid repeated glumly that they born and die again. It seemed Ferid thought of this process occurring over and over, where the problem for him was they were born back into this boring world.[14]

Likely seeing that the idea troubled him, Ferid's brother told him no, when one dies that is it, it's over. His brother continued that is why how they live and die is so important. When Ferid said it would be nice if that were true, his brother seemed puzzled at what he was getting at. After a moment and then feeling he got it, his brother rationalized that with father and mother now dead because of that accident, Ferid was thinking about where they went.[15]

To himself, Ferid thought how it was not an accident actually, he killed their mother and father. Feeling he understood Ferid and in continuing to support him given how he thought he felt, his brother stated how kind it was of Ferid. In maintaining his niceness, his brother affectionately patted Ferid on the head and told him he must have gotten that kindness from mother.[16]

Glancing to the sword at his brother's waist, Ferid pulled out the weapon and slashed his brother across the chest with it. With blood having splashed on his face, Ferid's brother registered what had just happened. Where he was shocked, Ferid quizzed him on his look. His brother spoke how Ferid betrayed him. In response Ferid asked who even was he again.[17]

Swinging the sword, Ferid murdered his brother by decapitation. After Ferid's brother fell to the ground, Ferid asked his lifeless self what happened. Taking to stabbing him with the sword, Ferid questioned aloud whether reincarnation was real. Having been desecrating his brother's body to the point he had blood over his clothes, Ferid happily looked to the sky and spoke how he hoped his brother has not gotten reborn yet. Continuing to speak to himself, Ferid said how just the thought that they will get reborn right back into this stupid, dull, idiotic world was enough to make him positively terrified of death.[18]

With Ferid hearing the sound of galloping, men on horses arrived and called for his Majesty. One of the men found Ferid's brother after Ferid had left the sword in his body. Shocked at prince Ferid, one of the King's retainers asked what had he done. Announcing how wonderful it was, Ferid was pleased to see all of elder brother's retainers.[19]

Disregarding the murder he had just committed, Ferid said to his brother's retainers that there was something he wanted to know. Horrified, one retainer questioned whether Ferid had any idea what he had done, before asking what will happen to them. Saying for them to listen as he acquired one of the scrolls, Ferid elaborated how the one he held was written by a sage from far, far to the East. Ferid told his brother's retainers that he wanted them to go on a conquest all the way over there.[20]

For the retainer stunned at the scenario, Ferid said for him to hush. Asserting that nothing he was worried about was actually real, Ferid spoke how the court factionalism was over. Claiming he would make them his highest retainers, Ferid detailed that as his supporters, he would let them kill anyone they considered an impediment. Ferid added for the retainers to be as tyrannical as they pleased.[21]

As one of the retainers was taken aback, Ferid reiterated that none of that matters. Reincarnation was the issue, and Ferid discussed how that cycle needs to be broken. Speaking for them, Ferid detailed how they had to make sure that no one was ever reborn again into this stupid, boring, and putrid world.[22]

In the present day, Ferid is on top of a building with Crowley behind and observing something. Wondering about it, Crowley asked Ferid what he was watching this time. Finding he was being spoken to, Ferid replied that he was watching the line shake out. Questioning what he meant by the line, Crowley also asks for what. Ferid answers the line queuing up for the end.[23]

Being observed is Shinoa Squad who are gathered on the section of grass below. Mitsuba helps support Shinoa where Yoichi and Kimizuki are nearby. As Shinoa is confronting Shikama Doji in her mind she appears steady if somewhat fatigued.[24]

While Ferid beholds the squad, specifically Shinoa's expression, he then raises something he has to ask Crowley. He seeks a reminder to the question on how many years has it been since they met. Giving it some thought, Crowley then responds how this is sudden. Deeming it a good question, Crowley answers he does not remember. Speaking further, Crowley says how it has been a while though. A really long while.[25]

Addressing how Crowley has lived for that long, Ferid then demands to know whether he is dumb. Crowley tells Ferid just so he knows, that he was the one who turned him into a vampire. After Ferid questions whether he did, Crowley affirms yes. Acting as if he had just been reminded, Ferid claims Crowley begged him while saying that he wanted to live forever.[26]

When Crowley says he did not, Ferid asks then why did he become a vampire. It is something Crowley wants to know. Crowley asks did Ferid not just pick him at random and force it on him. Once Ferid dubiously professes that he does not remember, Crowley calls him out as a liar. Seated on the edge of the building, Ferid insists he really doesn't remember.[27]

Not sure what to make of the situation, Crowley speaks what the hell. They have been together for something like a thousand years by now, and Crowley points out how Ferid still won't tell him anything. After Crowley professes that is something else, Ferid raises is it not cruel. When Ferid states he gets the feeling that they have gone through a lot together in all this time, Crowley considers what he is saying.[28]

Picking up on how Ferid gets the feeling they have been through a lot, Crowley addresses how he then says he does not remember. After Ferid checks whether he does, Crowley thinks before mentioning how he remembers some parts, but not others. After Ferid asks whether they are good memories, Crowley contemplates the question. Crowley questions whether Ferid really does not remember.[29]

If Ferid must confess then he admits he is the annoying type who cannot forget a single thing, no matter how much he wishes he could. It is the first time Crowley has heard that, yet he wonders if that is another lie. Once Ferid voices how that is a good question there are pauses between them.[30]

Coming to think of it, Ferid brings up the matter of Crowley's two servants, Chess and Horn. Curious at what happened to them, Ferid asks Crowley whether he remembers. Giving this some thought, Crowley visualizes both Chess and Horn. He then asks Ferid did he kill them.[31]

As the question is answered with silence, Crowley then comprehends that Ferid means for now to finally be the time to kill him. Where Ferid remains standing without a word, Crowley speaks how if this really is the end then Ferid will not have ever explained a thing to him.[32]

Coming to speak no, Ferid tells Crowley that the time they spent together was far more entertaining than he expected. Reflecting on his words, Crowley laughs what the heck as he wonders if that is all Ferid is going to say.[33]

Upfront about his intent, Ferid says to Crowley he can resist if he wants, but he is stronger though. As Crowley says his name, Ferid awaits what he has to say. Regarding their long journey, Crowley attests that is wasn't half bad.[34]

Hearing that, Ferid speaks he is glad. Ferid's cuspids become more pronounced, and he opens his mouth wide to reveal a large open jaw in which his lower teeth are serrated. Chomping down, Ferid dismembers Crowley by appearing to bite his entire upper torso off.[35]

As Crowley's lower half balances precariously on the edge of the building it then begins to fall to the floor. From his right hand, Ferid fires a chain which skewers Crowley's lower torso mid-air. Ferid announces how he is the 440th.[36]

Saying for Crowley to come along, Ferid states it is time they jumped up to the front of the line at the end of the world.[37]

Chapter Notes[]

Cover Details[]

Unusually for a feature image the details are divided amongst two different pages with various ones in between them. On page 1, the Seraph of the End logo is featured at the top left of the image. This first page itself covers in-universe story related events, namely Shinoa laughing with joy as she battles Shikama Doji. Unseen, the previous chapter 133: "Maidens in Love" would indicate she was absorbing his darkness based power. These two panels of Shinoa and Shikama Doji are virtually identical to the ending panels of the previous chapter. They are slightly condensed on account that the page here features further panels, and Shikama Doji's speech bubble saying "damn" is absent. The new details in this chapter are the panels below namely Shikama Doji preparing a darkness based power, and Shinoa being ready for it. Due to his name being mentioned, Gekkouin is a part of this first page.

After a two page story related interval, it is the 4th page that constitutes the cover image for chapter 134. As before but in a different scenario, Shinoa is featured as is Shikama Doji who may not be identifiable given it is just the top of his head shown. The previous events showed that Shinoa had removed Shikama Doji's arms, where she is now acting to access his thoughts. A darkened space is in between this present day scenario and that of a past one on the page. The past showing a field based landscape, it would transpire that this memory did not seemingly involved Shikama Doji as Shinoa's prior scene would indicate, but would in fact involve a different character, namely Ferid.

The lettering details are on the bottom of the page in the fourth panel, the one concerning the past. A second, larger version of the Seraph of the End logo is included in the lower left in an especially notable case. The lettering details are above in the top left of the panel. The chapter 134 number and the Reincarnation Rondo title is in the top right.

  • A new darkness based ability without any other specific words being a part of the invoking generates a flat circular power before Shikama Doji. Although appearing shield-like, the First resorted it to put distance between himself and Shinoa. In the previous chapter 133 the First found that his powers were able to be absorbed by Shinoa hence his actions here, hence the need to fall back. A demonic based power of creating distance between two areas was seen in chapter 100: "A Demon Appears" where in that dream world, Demon Mika could further the distance that Asuramaru had to run to reach Mika and who looked like Yu. If it was a similar power here it would not be seen as Shinoa promptly resorted to ranged attacks, which would have served perfectly had Shikama Doj gained the distance in any case.
  • The "Falling Stars" ability is first seen in this chapter, and is used by Shinoa wielding the power of Yoichi's demon, Gekkouin. The shimmering light is the only star-like aspect where the power involves manifesting two large identical bows with similar colored bow strings. These are unlike the more ornate cursed gear bow that Yoichi uses in the physical world. The non-mechanical appearing bows generated also have two long arrows ready to fire, each tipped with a sizeable rhombus arrowhead. All around the two bows and their arrows radiated a glimmering harsh appearing light. When the weapons are conjured, the arrow fletching is near each of Shinoa's hands though it is probable they are fired using her mind. They are accurate to strike Shikama Doji in each of his arms, their strength is enough to remove them entirely and cast them back a distance.
  • In the previous chapter, Shinoa displayed the ability to summon Gekkouin, as well as Kiseki-o. Here she appears to have an innate knowledge of their powers if drawing upon a never been utilized ability of Gekkouin's is anything to go by.
  • For everything he has done, Shikama Doji feels it is suitable to call Shinoa a monster. While appearing cursed, Shinoa remains in control of her mind, and shares with the First that he was the one who made her this way. This seems true on both accounts of the First being involved with Shinoa's creation, as well as his behaviour that has made her into someone who wants to blow his arms off using demon generated arrows.
  • The events of this chapter would likely be occurring at a similar time in chapter 132: "Battle to The First" where Yu who has reached Shibuya has been contacted by the First in his mind. In chapter 132, Shikama Doji was summoning him in a more calm manner. Given Shinoa's attack here, the First now compels Yu to reach him with some urgency. It's not likely that Shikama Doji would be getting any assistance from Yu, he is not heading to reach his physical location in a prison, rather Yu with Mika are capitalizing on a chance to assail vampire progenitors, from Saito, to Urd, with Lest Karr, then Ky Luc and likely Basteya Irclu as well.
  • Where he appears physically fine in the over world, it is likely the Hyakuya Sect members that may be around Shikama Doji's physical body would not realize he is so compromised in his sphere.
  • In prevailing over Shikama Doji after an attempt previously in chapter 99: "Mortal Love", in this chapter Shinoa succeeds in her goal to overcome the First. With Shikama Doji down, Shinoa means to access his memories, and then take his power.
  • Where Ferid's past is shown, that might be a story route given past events where being looked into. It may not mean Shinoa accessed Shikama Doji's memories and saw Ferid and his brother in the past, rather it might be revealed in a later chapter that off-panel Shinoa had become up to date with the First's experiences. Like Saito who viewed some parts the past in chapter 130: "The Light Which Remains", much of the rest would have been seen off-panel given the prehistoric past events were covered in detail when Yu and Mika were traversing memories from chapter 122 to chapter 130: "The Light Which Remains". It might be assumed that later chapters would not display Shinoa seeing the same memories already explored in the manga, a speech bubble could just indicate she is aware of this extensive background.
  • While he has been mentioned by others and remembered, Ferid was last seen in chapter 118: "I Hear Voices" when he tried to prevent Yu with Mika from escaping the resurrection chamber beneath Akihabara.
    • Where Shinoa Squad had split up from the vampires and Guren to search for Yu, it would turn out that Ferid was not so much interested in the search since he would be seen to be observing Shinoa Squad here instead.
  • Were the new appearing individual who was thinking bleak thoughts not recognised as Ferid from his facial features, hair style, and what turns out to be a signature black ribbon in his hair, then the next page would spell out this was Ferid, seen as he was at sixteen for the first time.
  • For Ferid's black ribbon that he is rarely seen without by present times, it would appear that he took to tying up his hair with this long ago during this time.
  • Previously in chapter chapter 91: "Orphan Prince" it was the first instance of Ferid being seen at a younger age. A child there, he is still a young human in this chapter though having aged to the aforementioned sixteen. It seems apparent that Ferid would continue to become an adult as he was one by the time he was transformed into a vampire where his age would be set as it was when transformed.
  • Seen to have murdered his parents in chapter 91, as a human teenager Ferid here reveals apathetic thoughts of wanting to die where he described such emotions as driving him mad. Alone in thinking this, it is probable that he had just read the reincarnation details that may have brought on this episode.
  • Likely coincidence, the attire Ferid wore at that time, particularly the shirt resembles what Demon Mika wore when he was a demon without memories for a brief while.
  • Chapter 91 revealed that Ferid had parents, and an unspecified likely elder relative on account that he was second in line to a throne. This chapter showed that he had an elder brother.
  • In contrast to Ferid's white based clothing with a few black based features, his brother wears almost entirely black with sporadic white aspects. Both royalty, it may be the case their clothing represented what such prominent members of society wore. Notably it is distinct from medieval style clothing if that is indicating where their kingdom was situated.
  • Evidently familiar with his habits, Ferid's brother knew where to find him where his sibling was alone in a secluded field. Similarly he knows what is shown to be a new trait of Ferid, that he was interested in reading around that time.
  • From asking whether he should address him as his Majesty now, it is possible that Ferid's brother had only recently become king. From Ferid's age and where their parents passed away years ago, it may be the case his brother was not instantly anointed king rather perhaps when he came of age.
  • In referring to their parents' deaths as an accident his brother was not just unaware that Ferid had murdered them, but may not have been in the area at all since there would have been news that they had been struck by swords.
    • News of the circumstances of his parents deaths would have been withheld from him as first in line for the throne in that case. Unstated factions in the kingdom who favored Ferid would have likely been involved with this concealment.
  • For wherever their kingdom is, it may literally be small from Ferid's brother mentioning it where in any case it was said to have changed drastically.
  • A clergy based system was involved in this kingdom as in chapter 91 Ferid mentioned that he was being taught how to be a saint.
  • As king, Ferid's brother felt the responsibility of supporting the people in his and Ferid's kingdom where he supported working with others for that goal.
  • Although it can be implied that Ferid was not as responsible with managing the kingdom as he could have been, he is said to have had a lot of powerful support.
  • While his brother's praise was sincere, Ferid stating that his brother was more talented and popular seem to have been said as Ferid was seeking excuses for him to do all the work when it came to ruling where he didn't want to help.
  • Details of Ferid and his brother's father may have been revealed where it was felt he had ideas of conquering the world.
  • On the surface, Ferid was clapping with excitement over his brother commenting that they could conquer the world. It seems his brother knew him better and gathered he was being sarcastic hence him saying he meant it.
  • Around this time, Ferid claimed to have no interest in wealth, power or royalty. While such lack of interests would make sense later when he became a vampire, by the present day as one he has some interest in power, namely undermining stronger forces.
  • For Ferid's lack of interests it seems that has been a consistent trait of his even before turning into a vampire.
  • From this, it does not appear that Ferid and his brother were raised apart give how familiar he was with Ferid's behaviour.
  • After Ferid said he was not interested in any power related areas and neither saw a point to living, when he said that he would help if ordered to, his brother saw it as Ferid acting as he always did. Interpreting it as Ferid looking for reasons to get involved or not, and as Ferid was speaking that his lack of interest may be a liability, his brother framed these perceived negatives as something good. Ferid's brother stated how Ferid's lack of ambition is a reason for trusting him as he attempted to encourage him to be involved with their joint kingdom.
  • If symbolism were at play, when Ferid's brother is requesting that Ferid support him for them to build a world of their own there is a panel depicting a field with two trees side by side. A scenario of them both as equals would be in keeping with what Ferid's brother wanted for them both to maintain their kingdom where his brother did not treat him as beneath him.
  • Although not ordered to, Ferid accepted his brother's offer to build the kingdom together.
  • From waving it about it may have just been the one scroll on reincarnation. Detailed in a treatise, what seemed to be accurate information concerning reincarnation were known about in the far East.
  • While Ferid was aware of reincarnation, his brother wasn't. His retainers did not pick up much on the word, so reincarnation as a concept may not have been common knowledge in that part of the world during that time.
  • Given their origin the reincarnation based texts would have likely been in a different language where it is indicated that Ferid could understand this.
  • From the treatise Ferid explained background details to reincarnation and why humans are here. It is unclear whether this was discussed in detail in the document, yet humans are unknowingly here to gather darkness for Shikama Doji. In chapter 129: "The First Vampire" humans may have been present across other planetary bodies where seraphs had established Satellite Kingdoms, yet the first humans seen on Earth were brought there by a Homunculus, namely a specific one addressed as Yu. Humans were to gather darkness by Shikama Doji who was attempting another means of resurrecting angels who had perished.
  • For reincarnation being one big circle, it appears that is indeed the case for angel spirits. After seraphs including human appearing angels had perished, in chapter 129 their spirits were seen to fly into the bodies of humans who had been brought into the world. It seems it is the angel spirit that may be reincarnated, transferred to remain inactive as human descendants come into existence.
    • This chapter seems to indicate that seemingly non-seraph affected humans can also be reincarnated.
  • For whatever reason Ferid found the world boring and that seems to have factored into desiring a campaign to learn about reincarnation in order to bring the cycle to an end.
  • Although Ferid's brother felt it was over when one dies, he may have been expressing that view that to have Ferid feel better given his clear disapproval of reincarnation.
  • In seeking to understand his sibling, Ferid's brother reasons Ferid has been wondering where their father and mother went after their passing. Not doing anything of the sort, Ferid was only concerned with reincarnation as he did not want to be born again into this world.
  • In chapter chapter 91: "Orphan Prince" it was shown how Ferid murdered his parents as a child. Of his frame of mind at the time, from here Ferid remembers it, knows it wasn't an accident, and acknowledges that he killed them where he is somewhat animated at the idea.
  • It seems all but certain that court factions loyal to Ferid would have been behind a cover up of the murder of the King and Queen of their kingdom, where Ferid would have been probably regarded as a potential next king to support for said faction's benefit. Whoever assisted in concealing the nature of the King and Queen's murders had likely told his brother it was an accident and kept up that lie for years.
  • Details of Ferid's mother are shared when his brother describes her as kind.
  • Nothing brought on Ferid's sudden attack. He did not think how he murdered their parents' when their deaths was mentioned as an accident before. The last thing Ferid's brother said was a pleasant comment on how Ferid must have gotten his kindness from his mother. It was a sudden act where Ferid seized his brother's sword and after the murder he considered reincarnation and how he hoped it would not take place.
  • In slashing at his brother, Ferid pulled the sword out, swung it behind his brother's head to slash down from his left shoulder.
  • For what he had to say having killed someone, Ferid seemed to want them to realize it had happened and then ask who they were to indicate how little he thought of them.
  • From the blood splattered on his clothes where they were clean before it seems Ferid had been desecrating the body of who he murdered.
  • At least three, possibly four, retainers were seen to arrive at the scene where Ferid had murdered his brother, where Ferid commented that was all of his retainers.
  • Apparently not galloping from a distance, it may be the case that Ferid's brother's retainers were stationed over the slope nearby and came after hearing the murder related sounds.
  • Although shocked to find their king murdered, the retainers appeared more alarmed for what would happen to them, possibly themselves or the state of what was said to be a relatively small kingdom with a plausible risk of warring factions only recently being reconciled.
    • In hushing their concerns, Ferid seems confidant that the retainers are indeed more concerned about the wider picture when he assures them that the court factionalism is over. For their self-interest, Ferid seems to feel that making them his highest retainers to act with impunity would win them over to his side. There is little to suggest that this was not successful for the retainers to move on from their shock at what befall their king and support Ferid in his place, though at that point it may have been the only practicality giving he was the only heir.
  • While probable that the reincarnation related scroll was from the far East, arranging a conquest to a far-off location would also bring the focus away from the murder he just committed which may be why Ferid raised it then to change the subject from a murder to embarking on a grand quest.
  • On account of the central location of the series, the sage from the East may have been referring to one from Japan. The sage's ideas of reincarnation may have arisen through the beliefs of that culture, or it may indicate that Shikama Doji had revealed details on this specific reincarnation to others. With major characters being tied into major events in the series it's at least possible that the sage who wrote the reincarnation text that Ferid read is Shikama Doji, who would be likely still be known as Sika Madu around that time.
  • In chapter 49: "Progenitor's Memory" it is mentioned how one thousand years Ashera was taken to Japan to become the demon Asuramaru. If details on reincarnation were shared by Shikama Doji to inhabitants there then that may indicate the time when Ferid was a human in his kingdom, and so the events of this memory may be within the last one thousand years.
  • Unconcerned with the kingdom or others who have been killed, Ferid spoke of breaking the cycle of reincarnation, never mind if anyone else desired that. In feeling that the world was boring and putrid he did not want anyone born into it, not just himself.
  • Supposed to be looking for Yu as he is needed for a human based resurrection, instead it is revealed that Ferid is monitoring Shinoa Squad and has brought Crowley away from the search to his location as well.
  • Based on his interest in them here, it is likely that Ferid overheard the details in the previous chapter 133 where Shinoa arranged for her squad to act of their own accord apart from the vampires, as well as Guren and Mahiru.
  • Watching the line shake out, it may be that Ferid feels that should whatever is to befall Shikama Doji next then that may tie in with reincarnations coming to an end.
  • The area of grassland that Shinoa Squad moved to in the previous chapter can be seen more clearly here. It is a rare case of an area not overgrown or derelict given that is the general state of the world after the Catastrophe.
  • As Shinoa grapples with Shikama Doji in her mind, physically Mitsuba is tending to her.
  • Not seen clearly, hardly at all, the small depiction seen from a distance and a brief amount of his shoulder shown would show that Kimizuki's was present in this chapter.
  • Apparently able to sense Shikama Doji's status within a demon realm, Ferid acts after the First has been incapacitated there to begin the build up to murdering Crowley which he commences when questioning how many years has it been since they met.
    • Given the possibility that Crowley is Ferid's brother reincarnated, Ferid may be asking how many years since the very first met in a previous incarnation, or met Crowley who would remember from his current life that he was a crusader found by Ferid.
  • Crowley states he does not remember how many years it has been since he and Ferid met. It may be that he has not kept track of the time, or that he can't be bothered with indulging Ferid's question given Ferid murdered his friend and transformed him into a vampire.
  • After Crowley points out that Ferid turned him into a vampire, Ferid crudely lies that Crowley begged him by saying he wanted to live forever.
  • Unsure why Ferid force-fed him blood so that he became a vampire, it is apparent that Crowley has no memories or previous lives, if he is indeed someone reincarnated.
  • In asking whether he remembers, Ferid may be attempting to find out if Crowley does recall previous lives.
  • When Ferid claims he cannot forget a single thing it may very well be true given that the exact numbers, which if accurate, would indicate the extent of his memory.
  • Both Chess and Horn are mentioned for the first time since they were last seen in episode 24: "Seraph of the End" and chapter 42: "Sanguinem's End" both of which concern vampire progenitors from abroad becoming aware that Sanguinem has fallen. In both cases, Chess and Horn appeared to be active around that time, but their very long absence from the story seems to be explained here nearly one hundred chapters later when their status is enquired about by Ferid.
  • Chess' name is spelt as Ches with one s in this chapter when her name is spoken by Ferid.
  • In being remembered, which seems an indication of Crowley's point of view, the faded out recollection is Chess and Horn's first appearance in the manga since the aforementioned chapter 42.
  • After Ferid innocently raises their names, Crowley understands why in asking whether Ferid has killed Chess and Horn.
    • From Ferid's pause, Crowley gathers further that he now means to kill him.
  • At feeling this is the end, Crowley addresses how Ferid really didn't ever explain anything to him. Not why he was force-fed Saitō's blood, neither why he was a seventh progenitor asked to disguise himself as a thirteenth progenitor for so long. Or what they were fighting for given they were acting against vampires to help with a human resurrection.
  • Where vampires generally feel no emotions, as among other instances, Ferid mentions how he found his time with Crowley to be entertaining.
  • In chapter 22: "Taboo Krul" third progenitor Lest Karr seemed sure of power differences between himself and fellow third progenitor Krul Tepes, it's further indicated that there can be dramatic differences in the capabilities between vampires of identical rank. For here, although both are said to have strength around that of a seventh progenitor, Ferid felt he was stronger than Crowley.
  • With little else he could do, Crowley mentioned that his and Ferid's long journey together was not half bad. Of no fault of Crowley's it is a testament of vampire induced apathy given that Ferid had murdered all Crowley's friends in the past and indeed meant to murder him now.
  • In a first display of its kind, Ferid's mouth becomes especially monstrous as it opens far wider than what a regular mouth should be able to. Furthermore, his lower teeth have become serrated.
  • The upper half of Crowley appears to have been consumed by Ferid where vampires usually use their fangs to kill others when they are in the process of draining them of their blood. A vampire does not generally consume any flesh of who they attack. Ferid's jaw certainly does not look like anything a vampire should have.
  • Ferid displays the ability to produce chains where he joins Tenri Hīragi, then Saitō, and Guren Ichinose in being able to produce and manipulate this type of weapon.
  • This chapter introduced Ferid's brother, discussed the background to reincarnation, and had Crowley murdered. From trying to seek what Crowley remembered, Ferid may have been checking if he had memories from before his current life. Out of everyone, Ferid chose Crowley to be a vampire to work with him over centuries. Chess and Horn are not said to be dead but that is implied. Overall, this chapter may have additionally been implying that Crowley is a reincarnation of Ferid's brother, hence it was no random selection of him. Ferid stating that Crowley is the 440th makes sense in a chapter concerning reincarnation, and makes sense even more if he is saying that Crowley is the 440th reincarnation of his brother that he has killed.
  • Speaking to Crowley's lower half, Ferid talks as if he is able to converse with him again. It may be possible Crowley can be resurrected from his lower half, or his head should he have been devoured.
