Shihō Kimizuki looked after his ailing younger sister, Mirai, after the world ended and kept her wellbeing a primary interest when he sought to join the Moon Demon Company headed by Guren Ichinose. Whilst Kimizuki would be belligerent to another candidate in Yūichirō Hyakuya he would act casually around Yoichi Saotome and Mitsuba Sangū but come to regard his squad leader Shinoa Hīragi with some suspicion. He was unconcerned with her and the Japanese Imperial Demon Army's true motives so long as Mirai's health was looked after. In keeping with their common purpose Kimizuki would battle against vampires. Overall Kimizuki is not shy of being verbally and physically confrontational but often exercises restraint when matters are pressing. He is calm in resolving some situations and is a more rational member of the squad. Kimizuki interacts with various other characters throughout the Seraph of the End series, which affects himself and the story. This article details Kimizuki's relationships with other characters.

Family[]

Mirai Kimizuki[]

Loving his younger sister Mirai Kimizuki deeply, Shihō has taken care of her since she became afflicted by the apocalypse virus in 2012; however, caring for Mirai was very hard for Kimizuki as he had to carry her due to the Virus inhibiting her ability to move on her own, to avoid both the Horsemen of John and the vampires. Even when Mirai told his friends she wanted to die and they tried to get Shiho to kill her, he refused. In 2020, he becomes a member of the Japanese Imperial Demon Army's Moon Demon Company in order to pay for her medical expenses and get proper care for her. He later states he would betray Shinoa Squad if it would let him rescue his sister when she is experimented on. After retrieving Mirai from in between Saitō and the first progenitor Kimizuki means to leave Shibuya to keep her safe. Devastated at her being murdered by Guren he transports her deceased with there a chance for Mirai to be resurrected.

Japanese Imperial Demon Army[]

A member of the Japanese Imperial Demon Army under the Moon Demon Company branch.

Yoichi Saotome[]

Getting along well with Yoichi, their relationship has developed. Kimizuki is followed by Yoichi even after he decided to leave his friends in Tokyo and run away with his sister. He was knocked out by Yoichi's cursed gear and prevented from fighting Guren which may very well have saved his life.

Yūichirō Hyakuya[]

He and Yu had an uneasy relationship. They do not get along and would often fight each other. This was based on Kimizuki's need to acquire cursed gear where Yu was a rival.

Do you have rocks stuffed between your ears?

–Kimizuki to Yu when Yu earns a zero Chapter 6 "Black Asura"

Yu having an intense desire to help who he called family members, that were not related by blood resonated with Kimizuki. Where he cared for his sister, Kimizuki would also increasingly value his squad.

Y'know, Yu... What you said before was right. In this screwed-up world, there's no point to living if you don't have family to cling to. That's why it's my turn to rescue you.

–Kimizuki to Yu. "Asura's Power"

Keeping pre-planned formations they would battle together effectively. Where he had a chance to escape with Mirai who is Kimizuki's most important someone he proceeded to head to help rescue Yu. Whilst they continue to bicker a lot and resolve their conflicts with violence they also make for effective training exercises. Kimizuki is frustrated at Yu being stronger than him even though they both own black demon weapons.

He's nothing like he was before. He's better. Stronger. How? We both have black demons

–His thoughts during a fight with Yu "A Demon's Tale" page 22

Cursing Yu in anger Kimizuki was livid at feeling that Yu was going easy on him. Nevertheless, he was satisfied with the words that the more stronger they are, the better for the squad overall.

Hey, stupid Yu. Finish the spell already. Quit making us worry, you dolt! Octopus face.

–With Yoichi and Mistuba he speaks to Yu unconscious within a spell circle complete with a range of names. Chapter 103 "The Sky Awaits Them Both", page 8

Although Mirai may be resurrected along with humanity, when Yu is asked to decide between that or restoring Mika, he helps restrain Yu who became a demon meaning to fight. Rather than subdue Yu to have him co-operate and go ahead with the human resurrection which would include Mirai, in trying to reach him, Kimizuki reminds him he said they were family. Before, Kimizuki had placed Mirai before the squad yet the chance to resurrect her is put on hold in order to help bring Yu back to his senses. Further, Kimizuki speaks how Yu is a part of his and Mirai's family which has not been done before.

Right! We're family too! You even said it! Me, my sister... We're all your family! So quit this crap and come back to your senses!

–Involving Yu in his biological family after he goes berserk. Chapter 118: "I Hear Voices" page 20

Mitsuba Sangū[]

First encountering Mitsuba arguing with Guren and due to join their squad, Kimizuki considered Mitsuba a pain. Eventually it would seem both Kimizuki and Mitsuba get along with each other, but this does not prevent Kimizuki from scolding Mitsuba whenever she screws up and reminds her to use her indoor voice when he hears Mitsuba shouting. Kimizuki and Mitsuba tend to beat up Yūichirō when he does something stupid.

Shinoa Hīragi[]

Episode 16 - Screenshot 29

His supervisor prior to Shinoa being chosen to monitor Yūichirō where there is some effort to try and get the two to get along. Kimizuki was suspicious of her potentially using them but was fine with it since his sister's wellbeing came first though he would regard her with disgust should that be the case.

Tell us what? That you're really the Lt. Col's ally... ...And this is 'all according to plan'? Are you going to say we're all just guinea pigs... ...And you've been laughing at us this whole time?!

–Tensions with Kimizuki postulating what Shinoa has to say to them. Chapter 99 "Mortal Love" page 28-29

After Yu leaves the squad, Kimizuki pretends to have not heard Shinoa express her love for him to spare her potential embarrassment. When Shinoa asks if they as a squad can trust to follow her, Kimizuki immediately chooses her over the other options which includes Guren. While Shinoa's plan of resurrecting their families and getting Yu back is largely the same as Guren's, he still opts for Shinoa's side.

Shinya Hīragi[]

Major General Shinya of the Japanese Imperial Demon Army. He is present when he along with Yoichi are tortured to force Yūichirō into answering honestly in his "interview". They fought together to defeat a vampire noble.

Guren Ichinose[]

Like Yūichirō, Guren initially did not allow Kimizuki to join the Moon Demon Squad because he was still not ready to control a demon, warning him of the consequences. Where Yu shouts Kimizuki speaks in a more calm manner to progress where he would like such as acquiring cursed gear. Comparing himself to the Lt. Colonel, all Kimizuki feels he is doing is justifying excuses not to try.

Lt. Colonel? After what you said, I think I almost trust you a little.

–To Guren Chapter 66 "Shuttered Shinoa"

Even after Kimizuki was stabbed by Guren who was possessed Kimizuki was still prepared to follow his orders when they met again. This would change when Kimizuki intended to fight Guren who expressed an intent to murder his sister.

I don't believe you! At all! You killed my sister, you bastard. I haven't forgiven you for that! If you insist you're going to "save" everyone, are you gonna resurrect her too?!

–Before Guren can begin talking Kimizuki has transformed into a demon and attacks him. Chapter 99 "Mortal Love" page 22

His hostile views to Guren's past actions and future plans would be quelled after Kimizuki heard Guren emotionally detail his guilt in causing the catastrophe.[1] Without answers though, Kimizuki's patience would wane. When Yu's demonic state was worsening Kimizuki turned to the Lt. Colonel on what to do.

Mito Jūjō[]

Mito is a member of Guren's squad. Both their squads faces off as a challenge by Guren to prove their worth and strength before the battle.

Sayuri Hanayori[]

His teacher Sayuri is also a member of Guren's squad, he receives full marks in his tests from her. During a training exercise it is from Sayuri that Kimizuki learns that his sister's health has taken a turn for the worse.

Makoto Narumi[]

Leader of his own squad. Narumi holds some grudges against the Shinoa squad for his friends' death, but just the same works alongside them to defeat vampires and humans alike when the Seraph is activated. When Narumi was being hassled by Ferid over his squad Kimizuki interjected to get Ferid to focus on the point to spare Narumi the ordeal.

Intervening to also gain answers from others, Kimizuki will also speak his mind to Narumi. Speaking how he did not like Narumi's method of checking where Mika could not see them as food, Kimizuki also brought facts into their conversation.

Your cut's already healed. For all your preaching, we aren't technically human anymore either.

–Pointing out facts to Narumi when he is discussing non-human relations. "Holy Knight's Secret"

Rika Inoue[]

A member of Makoto Narumi's squad. Rika holds grudges against the Shinoa squad for interfering and allowing Mikaela to escape with Yūichirō, resulting in two of her friend's death. Kimizuki moves to intervene when she has a sword near Shinoa.

Shūsaku Iwasaki[]

A member of Makoto Narumi's squad. Shūsaku escapes with everyone else to the airport but soon afterwards is killed by Kureto.

Yayoi Endō[]

A member of Makoto Narumi's squad. Yayoi and Kimiauki battle alongside one another against Mel Stefano. She is killed by vampires after Mikaela escapes with Yūichirō.

Tarō Kagiyama[]

A member of Makoto Narumi's squad. Kagiyama is killed by vampires when they are ambushed after Mikaela escapes with Yūichirō.

Vampires[]

Tajed with fighting Vampires, Kimizuki comes into conflict with them in various scenarios.

Horn Skuld[]

Seventeenth Progenitor Horn is encountered when they first head back to the stronghold after their first mission. They meet again on the battlefield of Shinjuku and are defeated by the vampires. She drinks Kimizuki's blood when she defeats him.

Crowley Eusford[]

Thirteenth Progenitor Crowley is encountered when they first head back to the stronghold after their first mission and engages in short combat with. Kimizuki runs into him with the vehicle they are driving right after they jump out. They meet again on the battlefield of Shinjuku and are defeated by the vampires. Out of necessity they work to free Ferid and Krul from other vampire progenitors.

Chess Belle[]

Seventeenth Progenitor Chess Belle is encountered when they first head back to the stronghold after their first mission. They meet again on the battlefield of Shinjuku and are defeated by the vampires and Kimizuki has his blood drank by her.

Lucal Wesker[]

A fifteenth Progenitor, they are assigned to kill Lucal. With the co-operation of Makoto's squad, they successfully get rid of the vampire noble. Kimizuki successfully taunts him into attacking by stabbing into Lucal's sliced off arm to prevent him from joining with other vampire nobles and end him.

Esther Lee[]

A servant of Lucal Wesker. Esther is sacrificed as a meat shield when they attack the noble vampire as their assigned mission.

Ferid Bathory[]

Having to retreat from seventh progenitor Ferid Bathory who was leading the invasion of Shinjuku, he would later have little option but to work with him. Where Ferid was tormenting Narumi with the uncertainty around the state of his squad, Kimizuki commanded Ferid's attention by having him provide answers their questions if he wanted their attention. After Ferid has his heart pushed out his chest by Lest Karr, it is Kimizuki who is set upon to have his blood drained. Drained by the loss of his blood, Kimizuki focused on getting meat to replenish his loss. They would travel together to Shibuya. Seeing that Ferid had found them some distance away from the city, Kimizuki narrowly avoided being hit by the truck he was driving. He questioned Guren whether he expected them to get in the truck with him. Underground a facility in Akihabara together, Kimizuki activated the Devil's Coffin to transport Ferid beside Yu who was trying to escape.

Mikaela Hyakuya[]

The childhood friend and family member of Yūichirō. As with the others at first Kimizuki would not allow Mika to take Yu away before being head-butted by him. He then allows him to escape with Yūichirō while defending them with the rest of the squad. While he was not addressed, Kimizuki intercedes when Mika was put on the spot by Narumi and pressured on what his vampirism entails.

I don't like this method.

–Kimizuki intervenes on Mika's behalf when Narumi from making his blood drip in front of a thirsty Mika. Chapter 53: "Holy Knight's Secret"

Travelling together, Kimizuki would join Mika on the roof on the truck and tell him to not take up all the room.

Don't hog all the room. Scooch.

–Sitting back-to-back with Mika on the roof of the van. Chapter 69: "The Day the Sun Was Lost"

When Yu is happy with Guren's plans for Mika he reminds Yu that the Lt. Col killed Mika and how turning him into cursed gear is not a good thing.

Demons[]

Kiseki-o[]

Kiseki-o serves as Kimizuki's cursed gear and takes the physical form of twin swords. He asserts his dominance over Kiseki-o through violence, something Yu and Yoichi do not do. Kimizuki is often tormented with visions of his sister including taking on her appearance. Not reacting to Kiseki-o calling him pathetic Kimizuki listens as Kiseki-o articulates that Kimizuki's loud claims that he is going to save his sister is all for show, that deep in his heart Kimizuki has given up on his sister and just want to live a regular life. This time Kimizuki does not protest but he concentrates on how he could not save his sister. Asking Kiseki-o what his desires even are Kimizuki tearfully confides in his demon that he is sick of Yu showing him up all the time. Hearing from Yu that Kiseki-o was helping Asuramaru and the first, Kimizuki promptly stopped feeding power to his demon.[2]

Seraphs[]

Unaware of seraph experimentation on himself, Kimizuki has come in contact with seraphs.

Fifth Trumpet[]

The Fifth Trumpet is the seraph that inhabits the body of his sister, Mirai. Coming into contact with it at Nagoya airport, Kimizuki would focus on saving his sister despite the destructive power coming from the seraph and the demon Abaddon it summoned. There, and in instances where its wings are visible from Mirai, he focuses solely on his sister rather than the being that would more than likely kill him.

Second Trumpet[]

Witnessing the Second Trumpet generated from his squad member, Yu, he would speak to him on using the seraph power to save Mirai. Similar to his sister, Kimizuki does not see the seraph so much as seeing the person it inhabits.

Sixth Trumpet[]

Coming into contact with the Sixth Trumpet near Guren's residence, Kimizuki would draw closer to a seraph than before. Where the youth the seraph was within was summoning Horsemen to the world, Kimizuki fought against them. Having the chance, Kimizuki would act to seal the seraph if there was a chance.

I'm sorry. By giving you this drug, I might kill you. I have no idea what it is... or what it really does. But I can't let that stop me. I have to keep moving forward, for my sister. If I kill you, forgive me.

–To the sixth trumpet that they had a chance to seal. "The Door into Puberty"

As before, Kimizuki spoke to the human host yet done what was practical considering the danger an unrestrained seraph presented. Kimizuki would succeed in sealing this seraph.
