Takaya Kagami (鏡貴也 Kagami Takaya?) is a Japanese light novel and manga writer.[1] He is the creator of Seraph of the End alongside other works, such as The Legend of Legendary Heroes and A Dark Rabbit Has Seven Lives.

Takaya Kagami was born on May 22, 1979.[1] When he was a child, he lived near a church, and naturally gathered information about Christianity. This knowledge helped him create Owari no Seraph.[2]

Kagami uses CoolMint text editor when he writes, and always brings his laptop with him when he goes to family restaurants. He is good friends with Ryōgo Narita, the creator of Baccano! and Durarara!!, and has known him for over ten years.[3] In 2018, he switched text editors, now using Hidemaru Editor instead of CoolMint.[4]

Kagami is also on nice terms and normally speaks with Kenji Inoue, the author of Baka and Test and has been friends with him for eight years.[2]

  • Kagami's blood type is O.[1]
  • Inoue's nickname for Kagami is "Takabon", while Kagami's nickname for Inoue is “Inokichi”.[2]
  • Kagami is a fan of One Piece.[3]
  • The first designed characters were Yu, Mika, and Guren.[5]
  • On what Yu and Mika's hobbies were the reply was that at the time of volume 2 they were limited to surviving and were not in an environment where they could have a hobby. This may change in the future since Yu has made friends, and with his interest in the car a hobby may involve driving.[5]
  • Kagami's favorite anime is Cowboy Bebop.[6]
